V.A. Kom Van Dat Dak Af (First Dutch Rock And Roll Records) By Rob Kopp

Pues hoy tengo el placer de presentaros una muy interesante colección, esta vez dedicada al primer rock and roll de los Países Bajos.

Yo, como creo que una gran mayoría de los aficionados a la música, creía que eso del rock and roll era un invento norteamericano de los años cincuenta y que en el resto del mundo, nada de nada, o muy poquito, y me sorprendió cuando Rob Kopp, si, el amigo que nos presentó no hace demasiado sus "60 Dutch Nuggets", me dijo que si quería escuchar esta colección y luego publicarla en el blog.

¿Rock And Roll de los Países Bajos?, me sonaba muy raro, pero debido al lema del blog "La curiosidad es tu motor" le dije que si, pero debo reconocer que temiéndome lo peor, menos mal que afortunadamente una vez mas todos mis prejuicios se vinieron abajo, pues la colección me parece extremadamente buena. No se si en esos años se hacía mucha buena música en ese país o es que los dos compiladores han sabido extraer lo mejor del estilo.

Bueno, creo que lo mejor es que Rob nos cuente de que va esta colección:

Thanks for the opportunity, Jose, to present something again after 60 Dutch Nuggets. This time the focus is on Dutch "Rock 'n' Roll", when you can call it like that. 

In 2003 Dutch music journalist Constant Meijers wrote the book ÒKom van dat dak afÓ (Come down from that roof). Chapter 5 is called ÒDe 40 eerste Nederlandse rock & roll-platenÓ (The 40 first Dutch rock & roll records). It contains a list of 40 records up to and including the song thatÕs generally regarded as the first Dutch rock & roll record: ÒKom van dat dak afÓ by Peter (Peter Koelewijn) & Zijn Rockets (january 1960). 

Ever since this book was published I've been trying to collect them all 40 in one kind of form (I didn't care that much if it was on a scratchy 78, 45 or 33-rpm or even just an MP3) and in 2016 I finally could complete the collection when I found the last one on You Tube: Ik ben existentialist - Rosetta Groen. On that last song the text is more rock 'n' roll than the music is: Ik ben existentialist, ik weet eigenlijk niet wat het is, maar ik voel, ik voel ik ben het (I am existentialist, in fact I don't know what it is, but I feel, I feel I am one). 

I wouldnÕt call the music on all the other 39 tracks rock & roll either, and sometimes the author is smuggling a bit with the date of release (some were released AFTER Kom van dat dak af), but it´s nice to have them all 40 together.

With this compilation comes a Word-document of 14 pages with all the relative parts in numerical order from PLATENBOEK deel 1 (the green book), PLATENBOEK deel 2 (the red book) and PLATENBOEK deel 3 (the yellow book), the 3 issues of Platenclub Utrecht (see www.platenclubutrecht.nl) about Dutch pop music in the 50´s and 60´s. Finally: If you have never seen or heard The Tielman Brothers before, go to youtube and watch every second (5:58) of the live performance they did on Dutch TV. I added Rollin' & Rock as hidden bonus track in track 50. No wonder The Beatles were watching them while they were playing in Hamburg.

Bueno, bueno, bueno, después de este trepidante video, supongo que esto os habrá puesto los dientes largos, os recomiendo encarecidamente esta colección que a buen seguro os va a sorprender. Un trabajo muy concienzudo, como todo lo que hace Rob y con un buen montón de información en el documento adjunto.
