¡Por fin llegó el día! y es que esta "A Trip To Toytown" desde que la descubrí hace muchos años es uno de mis compilados favoritos. Y el subtitulo que alegremente he puesto de "La Mejor Colección De Popsike Del Mundo", a muchos les puede parecer exagerado, pero animo a los que no la conozcan a que opinen después de oír estos cinco volúmenes.Para hablar de este trabajo, habría que hablar de "Marmalade Skies", que precisamente tuvieron un post especial "AQUÍ", y es que es una maravillosa página dedicado a los sonidos sicodélicos y popsike británicos, realizada por una serie de fanáticos del tema. La hicieron para ser descargada libremente, pero hace ya bastante tiempo que sus enlaces están caídos, así que al fin me he decidido a rescatarla.
Suelo ser muy respetuoso a la hora de publicar trabajos ajenos y me gusta pedir autorización a sus creadores, que siempre han accedido y además con bastante entusiasmo. Así que revise la página y lo primero que encuentro es que fue realizada por "Mark Frumento", viejo conocido del blog, del cual rescaté la magistral "Teenager Operamanía" y al consultarle me dijo que él no había hecho la selección, que solo había escrito el texto y me indicó que al final pone que los discos fueron plasmados en CD-R por "Mark Kirk", aunque deduzco que en el proyecto participaron bastantes amigos.
Ellos consideran al "Toytown" como un genero en si mismo, que se rige por unas normas que ellos crearon y que están en la página y creo que es muy interesante de leer y que resumiendo se trata de canciones desenfadadas, sin mensajes y con predominio del mundo de los niños, los juguetes, las hadas, la magia tipo Alicia y cosas por el estilo y por supuesto británicas. Bueno,ellos lo explican bastante mejor y mas ámpliamente AQUÍ.
De la selección hay que decir que es apabullante y leyendo el track-list lo mas seguro es que se te caiga la baba. Los asiduos de este blog conocerán la práctica mayoría, pues yo diría que las dos terceras partes han aparecido en la serie "Tommentón En La Cuadra".
Mención especial a la parte del diseño de las portadas, precioso, como no podía ser menos y además con una precisa información de cada tema. Aunque en la página hay una detallada información de cada uno de los 119 temas que componen la obra.
Es una colección de la que es imposible cansarse, en su día la pasé a Cd-R y ha estado años en mi habitación y me he dormido cientos de noches escuchándola.

Realmente me he quedado a gusto presentando esta colección, pero antes de acabar os voy a copiar algo que he leído en la presentación de Marmalade Skies y creo que es definitivo. Eso sí, en Inglés, pero vamos, que se entiende:
